Sustainable development has focused on minimizing damage to the environment and human health by using resources more efficiently to limit the degradation of the earth’s natural systems.

Regenerative development, however, seeks to reverse the degradation of the planet's natural systems and also design human ones that coevolve with them to generate mutual benefits and greater expression of life and resilience.

During the course of the last decade, Sustainable Construction has seen significant improvements, transitioning from conventional to sustainable and currently to regenerative net-zero design.
